MEET STEVE

Collingwood is home.

I’ve spent my career as a small business owner. It taught me that leadership is really about people: building a good team, listening, managing a budget carefully and making sure the work gets done.

That same belief has shaped my time on Council and my volunteer work with Hospice Georgian Triangle and the Blue Mountain Snowdrifters. I try to show up, do my part and work well with the people around me.

Linda and I have been married for 21 years. Together, we have four kids and three grandkids. When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me golfing, skiing, snowmobiling, kayaking or walking our dog, Baylee. I love this community and I’m running again because I want to help keep it a great place to live—for every generation.

My priorities are straightforward: make it safer and easier to get around, bring people together and see the important projects already underway through to completion.

A More Connected Collingwood

Make Collingwood a pedestrian- and bike-friendly town where people feel comfortable leaving their cars behind.

  • Expand Collingwood’s trail network
  • Bring traffic-calming measures to town streets
  • Improve crossings for cyclists and pedestrians
  • Link Collingwood’s trails to Blue Mountain

Leadership That Brings People Together

Bring a diplomatic, respectful and practical approach shaped by my first term on Council and my years as a business owner.

My approach is simple: listen carefully, find common ground and keep the work moving forward.

Big work is underway. I want to help steward it through with steady oversight and practical decision-making.

  • Multi-Use Recreation Facility
  • Arts and Cultural Centre
  • The new hospital
  • Town infrastructure improvements

Success in Steve’s First Term

  • Creation of community safety zones and reduced speed limits, including the 30 km/h zone near Collingwood Collegiate Institute.
  • Advancing the new signalized crossing for cyclists and pedestrians at Poplar Sideroad.
  • Serving as Council’s representative on the Collingwood Public Library Board and contributing to its Strategic Plan.
  • Serving on the Collingwood Economic Development Roundtable.
  • Supporting continued progress on the Multi-Use Recreation Facility and Arts and Cultural Centre.

GLOBAL PARTNERSHIP

Work on the international stage

In 2025, Steve visited Ghana as part of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) Partnerships for Municipal Innovation (PMI). This initiative is fully funded by the federal government through Global Affairs Canada and delivered by FCM to help strengthen local governance systems and empower local leaders in international countries. Simcoe Region has been a proud partner in the PMI program and Steve was grateful to participate in the program in his role as Councillor to support local capacity building in Ghana.
